Alabama Community AIDS Fund

AIDS Alabama serves as the convening organization for the Alabama Community AIDS Fund (ACAF), a "community-owned" partnership through which community-based organizations, government agencies, businesses, and those infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS determine funding priorities. ACAF grants are intended to support activities aimed at serving specific populations and geographic areas in Alabama that are at the greatest risk for HIV infection.  More than 65% of the total number of HIV/AIDS cases in Alabama have been identified in seven of Alabama's 67 counties; these counties comprise the geographic priorities for ACAF funding, and five of these seven counties were served through ACAF's 2009 grantmaking activities.  ACAF funded programs engaged more than 29,000 participants in 2009.
