HIV, STI AND HEPATITIS C TESTING
Confidential HIV, STI and STD, and Hepatitis C Testing: FREE.
HIV and Hep-C screenings include the following: (1) Rapid HIV antibody test (detects HIV after 90 days) and (1) Hepatitis C. Both test results are available within just 20 minutes. These tests require a blood draw.
STIs and STDs screenings include 3 site testing with a vaginal, rectal, and throat swab to increase accuracy and avoid false negatives. Even if you don’t have symptoms, you can still transmit STIs and STDs to others.
AIDS Alabama's Prevention Coordinators will answer your sexual health questions with friendly, professional and trained staff. A wide variety of other referrals are also available, including referrals for Linkage to Care for HIV+ individuals.

Why Get Tested for STI/STD?

Why Get Tested for HIV?
The only way to know your status and avoid the possible transmission of
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is to get tested. If you think you may have been exposed, get tested. People can become exposed to HIV if:

They or their partners have ever had unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex

They are the sex partner of a man who has sex with men

They are the sex partner of an intravenous (I.V.) drug user

Who should get tested for Hepatitis C?
You should get tested for Hepatitis C if you:

Have injected drugs, even just once or many years ago

Have certain medical conditions, like chronic liver disease and HIV

Received donated blood or organs before 1992

Were born from 1945 – 1965

Have abnormal liver tests or liver disease

Have been exposed to blood on the job through a needle or injured by a sharp object

Are on hemodialysis

Were born to a mother with Hepatitis C
